Welcome to our annual conference 2024

We are very pleased to welcome you to our conference "Self-determination in pregnancy, birth and early childhood - between desire and reality".

It is our heartfelt desire to share sound knowledge about long-term healthy human development, beginning with conception.

When the start of life is accompanied by challenges and stress, it is not only the mother or the child who is affected. The whole family system is affected. Couples who were deprived of their self-determination at birth often say: "If we had known this beforehand...". Self-determination is very important for them in the subsequent pregnancy.

Pioneers such as Eva Reich, Dr. Marina Marcovich and Prof. Dr. Otwin Linderkamp have long since put this knowledge into practice. However, some things in obstetrics seem to run counter to current knowledge about the conditions for positive birth experiences.

For the 100th anniversary. On the occasion of the 100th birthday of doctor Eva Reich, we are paying special attention to her outstanding contribution to body-oriented support in working with pregnant women, women in labor and young families. She has initiated many methodological approaches with her work: these include emotional first aid (EEH) and resource and body-oriented crisis support. The terms regulation and co-regulation were coined by her in particular.

When life begins with difficult conditions, such as a premature birth, a loving, attentive and respectful approach can prevent lasting traumatic effects. 30 years ago, Dr. Marina Marcovich and Prof. Dr. Otwin Linderkamp introduced relationship-based care for premature babies in German-speaking countries.

Many studies have shown that the approach in which premature babies have physical contact with their parents as early as possible promotes health and bonding.

We span the arc from these pioneers with their profound work in the prenatal field and their significance to the present day. In a large panel discussion on Sunday, we will analyze whether or not these important works have been integrated into obstetrics! Then there are also opposing developments to relationship-oriented support during pregnancy, birth and the first years of life.

In view of these different aspects, we will work out the current challenges for pregnant women and women giving birth as well as the tasks and goals for professionals who accompany them in this important phase of life.

In the beginning was the body, not the word" - Working through pre- and perinatal injuries in the therapeutic process-

In the last 10 years I have developed and designed a method from my practical experience, which I call "Modified Bonding Analysis (MBA)", suitable for people with early, pre- and perinatal traumatizations, which have neither language nor mentalization and show themselves predominantly in painful, psychosomatic body sensations. These early inscriptions, "the inscription of the mother and ancestors," live in the body, seek a safe place where everything is allowed to be and want to be successively metabolized, located and verbalized. This is how my mindfulness body journey (AKR) came about, a constant in my therapeutic work. The concepts of understanding that I use are based on Winnicott and Bion.

Self-effective power for birth - and what hypnosis can do for it Hypnosis in pregnancy and during birth has proven to be the most effective method of psychological birth preparation. It helps women to feel comfortable and relaxed during pregnancy and to look forward to the birth in a relaxed manner. The feeling of security plays a central and fundamental role in this. In the workshop, we turn to our own sense of security and strengthen it with a proven self-hypnosis technique.

Setting up concern sets, based on the Identity-Oriented Psychotrauma Theory (IoPT) according to Prof. Dr. Franz Ruppert, can help us to gain access to the unconscious side of our psyche. This enables us to recognize where we are internally and what is preventing us from developing further. We can then take the next step towards ourselves and our own desires - including self-determination around pregnancy, birth and early childhood - between desire and reality.

In this workshop you will experience a live self-encounter (constellation of your own concerns). This offers the opportunity to make an individual request for a participant, which is why I ask you to let me know when you register whether you feel the need to make a request for yourself.

Swen Galster has dedicated himself to prenatal psychology since his youth. He is a passionate father of 5 children and is equally passionate about organizing projects related to birth psychology, such as online congresses (Bonding Congress; DREAMbirth after DREAMbirth Congress), Birth Trauma Summits and much more. Together with his wife Anabel and other colleagues, he founded the non-profit European Association of Birth Psychology. His affinity for technology is a great help to him. He is an "all-rounder" and loves working behind the scenes. While his wife Anabel, a birth psychologist, is often the face for videos and the voice of the podcast, he gives the world access to all this info! Together they have an early attachment and birth trauma practice. Swen is there to talk to affected fathers and always has a sympathetic ear. As a father, he is able to share the fears and concerns of new fathers, who often face many challenges after a stressful birth. Family and vocation are his top priorities. He lives with his family, two dogs, two rabbits, a hamster and a cat in the beautiful Taunus region.

Diverse approaches to pre-linguistic and birth experiences are a matter close to my heart. The holistic basic therapy with the regression method developed by Wolfgang Hollweg provides access to the pre-linguistic experience. I have been working with this approach, which was further developed from psychoanalytic therapy with prenatal psychology, since 1993. It is always deeply touching for me - especially as a Gestalt therapist DVG since 1988 - to grasp the background of psychosomatic imprints, to live through them and to feel and live a more liberated life in the here and now. I was able to gather my experience and knowledge through my intensive processing of my early influences, as well as through my 35 years of practice in Berlin.

I am 69 years old and the mother of three grown-up sons. In the last 9 years I have become the grandmother of 7 grandchildren, a happy, moving (self-)experience.
I have been working as a psychoanalyst, attachment analyst and supervisor in my own practice for 30 years. My therapeutic work cannot be separated from my personal development. I came into contact with the importance of the pre- and perinatal world for later resilience at a very early age. I wrote my degree thesis (1978) in psychology on methods to facilitate childbirth (Leboyer, Odent, Dick-Read) and, together with my husband, underwent Lamase training (1983) with Hanny Lothrop, which gave us self-determined births. The prenatal period always triggered me, which at that time I could neither understand nor speak about.
After graduating, I worked for 5 years in a counseling center for children and adults and at the same time worked as an intern in psychiatry. During this time, I completed further training in psychodrama, transactional analysis and a three-year course in "systemic group work".
From 1983, after the birth of our first two sons, I was "all mother" for 5 years.
In 1987 I decided to become self-employed and began an 8-year psychoanalytic training program at the DPG/Stuttgart. The core of this training was my training analysis with two therapists. Our third son was born in 1990. I have been self-employed since 1994 and worked in my own practice. I repeatedly felt that something was missing in my "word analyses", which my therapist wives - torn between their desire to have children and their careers - repeatedly mirrored to me.

Christian Strässle (born 1970)
Having been "socialized" in a children's home from 1976-1981, I experienced having to take "responsibility" for myself too early. Situations of physical and psychological violence and sexual traumatization were part of my everyday life. The consequence of this was that I acquired various survival strategies early on. Smoking from the 5th grade, alcohol and drugs from the 6th grade and then a workaholic through professional life. The turnaround began at a systemic seminar with Jakob Schneider in Munich (1995). My concern at the time was: "I want to know what love is." Since then, I have worked with body-oriented, systemic and psychotrauma methods, such as Somatic Experiencing® (SE) and, since 2020, with Identity-Oriented Psychotrauma Theory (IoPT). When I first came into contact with Franz Ruppert at the end of 2019, I fell under his spell and he became my teacher. I began to learn all about psychotrauma on my own. Since 2021 I have been a licensed trainer of Identity-Oriented Psychotrauma Theory (IoPT) according to Prof. Dr. Franz Ruppert, Munich, and teach his theory and method. Further qualifications: Dipl. Systemic Business Coach, Study Cert. IoPT. From 1993 to 2019, I worked in various sectors and hierarchical levels in sales (industry, medical technology and finance) as a consultant, coach and contributor to various leadership projects.

Thomas Harms, works as a psychologist, supervisor and trainer in attachment-oriented body psychotherapy and Emotional First Aid (EEH). He is head of the Center for Primary Prevention and Body Psychotherapy (ZEPP / Bremen) and chair of the EEH Europe Institute. For over 30 years, his work has focused on attachment development, crisis intervention and attachment-oriented psychotherapy with infants, toddlers, adults and couples. Simina Angelescu is a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist, a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, the manager of the Franco-Romanian "BebeBienvenu" Association and vice-president of the Romanian Maternology Association.
She is certified in Maternal Mental Health with Postpartum Support International, USA (2019).
Simina started her professional activity in 2002 as a researcher in the field of Human Performance Psychology (high performance sports) and trained as a parent - child / adolescent psychotherapist.
She also worked as a psychotherapist with an NGO offering support for abandoned children, developing her abilities in the field of attachment pathology and developmental trauma. She developed a special interest in prenatal psychology, birth psychology and the parent-child relationship.
Simina is trained also as group psychotherapist in Psychodrama (member of the Romanian Classical Psychodrama Association) and specialized in Drama-therapy and NeuroDramatic Play with dr Sue Jennings (UK).
Since 2007 she's focused her activity and enriched her professional experience in the field of Perinatal Psychology, by expanding her private practice with psychological counselling services for pregnant women, psychotherapy for women in postnatal difficulty and their families.
As a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator she organized groups and educational workshops for future parents: healthy pregnancy and childbirth, natural parenting courses, as well as experiential groups for pregnant women on prenatal bonding.
Simina specialized in 2015 in Clinical Maternology (in France) - the science of the mother-baby relationship that focuses on the therapy of maternal difficulties and perinatal emotional and mood disorders - in order to initiate in Romania prevention and psychotherapy programs for pregnancy, parents with postpartum difficulties and their children in the firsts years of life. For several years she has been organizing and facilitating postpartum emotional support groups for mothers and babies.
Since 2017 Simina is a member of ISPPM and organized a Romanian working group on perinatal psychological support.
Simina is a member of the Global Prenatal Sciences Partnership and co-organizer of the 1st World Prenatal Sciences Congress: Prenatal Sciences, the Human-Earth Connection and Life Sustainability (6- 9October 2022).

Mechthild Deyringer is a physiotherapist and alternative practitioner who has been working with parents and children in her own practice for 45 years in the field of prevention and therapy, especially after stressful birth experiences.
In 1986 she met Eva Reich in Munich, adopted many of her working methods and adapted them to the current needs of parents.
Following her EEH training with Thomas Harms, she has been working as a lecturer for "Bonding through Touch" and "Emotional First Aid" in Austria, Italy and Switzerland since 2003 and has taught for the German Midwives' Association, among others.

As a BIRTH PSYCHOLOGIST, Anabel Galster is unique in Germany. Birth is her passion, which is why she began specializing in birth trauma work straight after her studies. In her practice, she accompanies women and their families online or on site after stressful births and in the follow-up pregnancy on their way to a DREAM birth after a DREAM birth. Together with her husband Swen, they have launched numerous projects, such as the Bonding Congress, online summits on birth trauma, podcasts and a YouTube channel dedicated to the topics of birth psychology. They live with their 5 children, two dogs, two rabbits, a hamster and a cat in the beautiful Taunus region. Combining family and vocation is essential for them as a bonding-oriented family.
